Our History:

HDC was established in 2001 to promote positive behavior among youth within their families, schools and communities. With the encouragement of organizations like the Dan Marino Foundation, the State of Florida Department of Juvenile Justice and the Children’s Services Council of Broward, Harmony Development Center was able to grow into a relevant provider of services to at-risk youth in Broward County, Florida.

We provide programs that serve youth showing one or more of the following risk factors:

  • School Behavior and Performance
  • Mental Health
  • Substance Abuse
  • Delinquent Behavior

Since then, it has secured additional funding and served more than 1,200 students. It has also added an after school site at Sunrise Middle School and two off-school sites at the Village Mobile Park and West Ken Lark Park, funded by the Children’s Services Council. Participants explore drama, music, dance, mathematics, and construction skills. With a 98% improvement in grades and attendance, the program has consistently helped at-risk students stay in school.
